The SEDR project’s first event of the year, the Development Officers Induction Training (DOIT) Program, launched last week which was the first in a series of seven 3-day trainings being delivered over the next few weeks. These 3-day workshops have an agenda full of sessions to build the capacity of the Mediation Boards Commission’s Development Officers from across the country, in fields like Access to Justice, Democracy, the Rule of Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution.


With funding from the European Union in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, SEDR’s teams from both the British Council Sri Lanka and The Asia Foundation have been working closely with the Mediation Boards Commission and Ministry of Justice - Sri Lanka to ensure these events help equip participants to support the improved functioning of community mediation boards island wide.


Here's a glimpse of how our first session with Development Officers from the Western and Southern Provinces went:
